Access Group has come forward as the principal sponsor for Trinity Rugby for two years, commencing 2017.

Access Group has been in the forefront of developing Sri Lanka’s rugby for over two decades.  Access and rugby are synonymous when it comes to the sport in Sri Lanka. There are many rugby players from humble beginnings who have gone all the way to represent Sri Lanka due to being beneficiaries of generous sponsorships and employment opportunities offered by the Access Group.

Access won the 46th Mercantile Rugby 7’s Championship in 2016, a success that they achieved for the second time. They also own a franchise in the Singer Sri Lanka Rugby Sevens, Carlton Super Sevens and Sri Lanka Super Sevens.

Trinity College Kandy, an institution that introduced rugby to schools in the country, has a peerlessly rich tradition of 111 years of rugby. Trinity 1st XV this season is being captained by Nathan Chang with Anuka Boyagoda as his deputy. The team is coached by Lote Raikabula from New Zealand. Lote is a Rugby Sevens legend, winning five IRB Sevens World Series medals, a Rugby World Cup Sevens title and two Commonwealth Games gold medals.

Trinity kicks off the season against Wesley today (24 February) at Longdon Place.
