All Island Range Rover Evoque Pro Karting Championship Round 1: A great success

The All Island Range Rover Evoque Pro Karting Championship Round 1 which was held on 24th March 2012 at Speed Drome Karting Center in Battaramulla concluded in a huge success, with   a record number of competitors participating in the races.

For the first time in its 3 year history, Round 1 of this event witnessed its most number of participants under the 4 Race Classes - i.e. Open, Novices, U18 and Ladies.  Out of over 100 participants, over 60 took part in the Novices event.The Officials and the large crowd present were entertained to a very enthusiastic set of youngsters who participated in the Round 1 Karting Championship

Eshan Sirwardana and Umanga Wijesiriwardana stole the highlights of the evening walking away with two podium positions each, while for the first time the Pro Karting Championship witnessed a lady driver on the podium for the Novices event.

Event

Winner    - Damith Weerasingha

1st Runner up - Kyle Crossland

2nd Runner up - Liam Lawrance



Ladies Event

Winner    - Umanga Wijesiriwardana

1st Runner up - Anosha Koralage

2nd Runner up - Shenali Samarasingha

 

Novices Event

Winner    - Eshan Siriwardana

1st Runner up - Umanga Wijesiriwardana

2nd Runner up - Eshan Pieris



Open Event

Winner - Tharindu Gamage

1st Runner up - Eshan Siriwardana

2nd Runner up- Lasitha Naotunna



This year the Speed Drome Pro Karting Championship will be partnered by Frontier Automotive Limited with Range Rover Evoque as the Title Sponsor and David Pieris Motor Company with Bajaj Pulser Power as the Main Sponsor.



Round 2 of the Championship to be held in June 2012.
