The All Island School Games Netball Championship 2016, conducted by the Departments of Health, Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Airtel, is currently underway at the St. Ann’s College ground in Kurunegala.
The first day of the tournament got on to an exciting start and experienced some fierce competition from teams of all three age categories. The results of Day One are as follows;
Under 15: The following teams qualified into the second round:
Uhana M.V- Ampara
St. Mary’s Convent- Matara
Musaeus College- Colombo 07
Dharmashoka Vidyalaya- Ambalangoda
Werenkatagoda M.V- Ampara
Siddhartha M.M.V- Eppawala
Ananda Maithree M.M.V- Balangoda
Maliyadeva B.V- Kurunagala
Hillwood College- Kandy
Mahanama M.V- Kegalle
While Vishaka Vidyalaya- Colombo 05 and Holy Family Convent – Kurunagala directly qualified into the second round as they were the winners and first runners-up of the tournament last year accordingly.
