All-Island Schools Under 17 Division I Cricket: St. Servatius win by 53 runs

Text and pix by P.D. De Silva St. Servatius College registered a 53 run win against Rahula College in the All-Island Schools Under 17 Division One Tournament match played at the Uyanwatta stadium on Saturday (7).

Rahula did well to restrict the Servatians to 179 runs in 42.1 overs. Dinuka Madushan captured four wickets, while Dilipa Jagathsiri, Kushan Ranawaka, Yasiru Hewanadugala captured a wicket each. There were three needless run outs in the Servatian innings. Ashen Deemantha 33 and Randika de Silva 32 were the top scorers for St. Servatius. The Rahula batsmen, excluding number seven batsman Thamindu Palliyaguru (21 off 32 balls) and skipper Yasiru Hewanadugala (14 off 19 balls), never made an attempt to chase down the gettable score. It took number three batsman Thilina Manage 89 balls to top the score card with 29 runs before being unfortunately ruled out lbw. Ashen Deemantha and Chamil Dhanajaya captured two wickets each while four batsmen ran themselves out. Scores: St. Servatius 179 in 43.1 overs.
