Round four of the AMRC Formula Championship 2012 organised by the AsianMotor Racing Club will be worked off at Pannala Race Circuit on 1 July. The races are scheduled to commence at 9a.m. with qualifying in the morning session and the race in the afternoon.

The events are Formula Mclarens 1300cc, Ford Formula 1600cc and Mclarens Alto1000cc one make event which will run as a support event.

Tahrindu Gamage is the current leader in the Formula McLarens 1300c class with a tally of 45 points. He has competed in the first race and collected the maximum of 20 points and 25 points collected from the other two events conducted by Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club at the same venue. Tharindu’s closest rival at present is Zakir Wahab who has gained 32 from three outings 18 points coming from the AMRC Championship race One where he was place second behind the leader Tharindu Gamage.

With a lead of 13 points Tharindu will have to extend his lead further while the runner up Zakir has to work hard to get closer to the front runner. Zakir too have driven consistently on this track to be placed second only to Tharindu.

If everything goes well for these two young drivers a keen tussle can be witnessed on this day.

All these drivers are the future prospects for Formula driving who has made their way to the racing scene from the Speed Drome Go Karting and Pro Karting.

The Ford Formula Post 85 event is a competition battled between veterans and the young drivers who have come a long way to compete in this class of racing. Ashan Silva Though leads the points table in this class overall with a total of 28 points is challenge by Dinesh Jayawardene and Safraz Junaid who too is a driver who had made a name in almost all categories.

Young Rikaz Khalid another driver who happens to be the youngest to compete in this class will try his best to challenge the seniors until the end.

The other drivers who can be classified as veterans are Rohan de Silva, Dinesh Jayawardene, Dinesh Dodanwala and Shirendra Lawrence are in the veterans list.  Although they are not in top positions at this stage capable of making a strong bid to challenge the top order for a change in the standings. All these drivers are capable of making good use of their experience to the maximum for this purpose.

The battle will rage with Ashan Silva trying to go past Dinesh Jayawardene who has led many Formula Races in the past and also the driver who can pose the biggest threat to the overall leader.

But in the AMRC Champi-onship race one it was Dinesh Jayawardene who stole the lime light defeating Ashan to Second slot. With two in fighting position in the race it will be of great importance for them while the spectators too are assured of a top racing fare during this event.

The Ford Formula Pre 85 will see a another good competition as the two leaders in this class Viren Boteju and  Kaushal Samarasinghe are separated by the smallest margin  of two points, while the driver placed on third slot is S.A Harsha.

Though Viren Boteju takes the main spot in the standings it was Harsha who came up with a fine drive to beat Viren in the previous meeting of AMRC championship 2012 at Pannala. Viren has got to the top due to his other performances in the same category events organised by the SLMCC.

In fact Harsha has won two races this season and failed to finish one race due to technical problems if not he could have reached top in this championship.

With the situation standing at that level it is sure that Harsha will go all out to out drive Viren and Kaushal to reach top place for this class.

The organisers expect weather Gods to present them with bright shiny day for motor racing drivers and for their spectators to witness good.
