Indian young racing super star Armaan Ebrahim has confirmed to take part in the ‘6 Hours Endurance Go Kart Championship 2015’ conducted by Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC) on 7 March at SLKC Bandaragama go kart track. With the invitation to Indian authorities AMRC a well renowned motor racing club in Sri Lanka also famous for promoting Go Kart racing and Formula racing in Sri Lanka, invited a team to take part in the upcoming Endurance Go Kart Championship which is to be held in four rounds championship with 12 teams’ participation. The Indian authorities were humble enough to confirm an Indian team’s participation with four drivers including the young racing talent and present FIA GT series driver Armaan Ebrahim along with few upcoming young racing talents Raghul Rangasamy, Vishnu Prasad, Sandeep Kumar and Indian motor racing legend Akbar Ebrahim as their team manager and team principal. Armaan Ebrahim started his career in karting and became Formula LGB Champion in 2004. He later moved to Formula BMW Asia for the 2005 season. During the same year he represented A1 Team India in the A1 Grand Prix Championship. He again drove for A1 Team India Part Season in the 2006–07 A1 Grand Prix season. In 2007 he drove in Formula V6 Asia where he captured five race wins and finished second in points. On December 12, 2008 Ebrahim was announced as the first (and ultimately, only) Asian driver to sign up for the rebirth of FIA Formula Two in 2009. The Formula 2 website rated Armaan as the ‘Driver with the Best Race Form’, on an average Armaan overtook eight cars per race in Formula 2.  Ebrahim returned to FIA Formula Two in 2010 driving for Motor Sport Vision. He captured his first F2 podium finish at Circuit de Valencia and improved to tenth in points. Armaan Ebrahim is competing for BMW Auto Service Team India in the FIA GT Series, which began on 1 April 2013. With the rest of the drivers the legend himself Akbar Ebrahim father of Armaan Ebrahim is also scheduled to arrive in the island as the Indian team Principal and team Manager. Akbar himself was a former Formula 3 champion with five national championships won in a row. He was also the first Indian to race in international circuits, representing India at the Formula Asia Championship, Formula Ford Festival, British Formula 3 and 2 Championships. Later in his life he dedicated his time to the development of motorsports in India; his determined efforts are largely responsible for the sport’s growing popularity in India. He is currently involved in training and shaping some of the finest racing talents. Akbar was instrumental in influencing the careers of Narain Karthikeyan (the first Formula 1 motor racing driver from India), Karun Chandhok (one of the only two Indian racers to participate in the Formula 1 series) and Armaan Ebrahim,( Formula 2, Indy Lites and the FIA GT 1 Series) , who have collectively taken Indian racing to great heights. President of the Asian Motor Sports Club Dinesh Jayawardana stated that “We believe this will be a great challenge to all the Sri Lankan teams; our local drivers/teams will be eager to outshine the class and talent of Indian counter parts and win the race. All in all it will be an exciting race and will be a great opportunity for all our local teams to learn and gain some experience from the class of the Indian team.”
