Ananda beat Zahira for T.B. Jayah Memorial Trophy

The Old Boys of Zahira College and Ananda College, Colombo jointly organised 50 overs under 19 Friendship Cricket Encounter between the two schools for the T.B Jayah Memorial Trophy was held at the Zahira College Grounds and Ananda College beat Zahira College by 8 wickets.6

Best Bowler Asel Damsika (Ananda College), Best Batsman Nisal Francisco (Ananda College), Man of the Match Nisal Francisco (Ananda College) and Best Fielder Ahmed Adil (Zahira College) received awards at this event. 

T.B. Jayah was a Sri Lankan educationalist, politician and diplomat. He started his teaching career in 1910 and was invited in 1917, by the then principal of Ananda College, He was then invited by Zahira College to be their principal where he served for 27 years, under his stewardship, Zahira College became one of the leading schools in the country.

Winning team captain Ananda College Nisal Francisco received the T.B. Jayah Memorial Trophy from Chief Guest and distinguished old boy of Ananda College Ranjith Pandithage. Zahira College Principal Trizviiy Marikkar, Vice Principal M.T.A. Rauff, POG Mushin Ariff, Sports Council Chairman M.S.M. Mazeer, Board of Governors Chairman Fouzul Hameed, Ananda College Vice Principal Sarath Gunethilake, Dialog Senior Manager Shahey Faleel, past cricketers and old boys of both schools were present.

LAUGFS, Dialog and Nestlé were sponsors for this match.
