Ananda College Colombo became Super ‘A’ Division Champions at the S.L.A. Rathnayake Memorial All-Island Under 16 Badminton Team Championship, which was played at St. Thomas College Bandarawela from 21-25 April.
During the tournament, Ananda defeated Nalanda (5-0), D.S Senanayake ‘B’ (3-0), St. Sebastian’s (3-0) and St. Anthony’s (3-0) at the group stages and qualified to play in the Super ‘A’ Division.
In the Super ‘A’ division semifinal, Ananda defeated Rahula College Matara( 3-0) and in the Super ‘A’ division final they outplayed Richmond College Galle (3-0) and won the Super ‘A’ Division Championship.
The Ananda team was trained by Chief Coach Janaka Dias and his Assistant Coach Charaka Bambarenda and was well guided by their Master-in-Charge Ranjith Payagala.
