Annual Bishop’s vs. Visakha water polo encounter today

The 7th Annual Water Polo Encounter between Bishop’s and Visakha will take place at the Police Pool complex today, 13 October at 2:30 p.m.
The encounter began in 2007 as a match between the two Under 15 Teams. These junior players of the past encounters have now evolved into strong experienced players who have gone on to even represent Sri Lanka.
The Under 19 match will be inaugurated this year and will be played for the Jeremias Dias Challenge Trophy and the Under 15 match will be played for the Bishop Chapman’s Challenge Trophy.
The Visakha Vidyalaya Senior team will be captained by Aneka Abeywickrema whilst the Bishop’s team will be captained by Aneesah Fowzie, both frontline players who represented the Sri Lanka National Water Polo Team in Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Kazakhstan and Indonesia.
They will be deputised by Nuwanthie Mannapperuma and Thaveesha Eliyapura respectively.
The Visakhians have won the trophy on six occasions whilst the Bishopians have emerged winners on two occasions.
Both teams have at least five players who have represented Sri Lanka at various international tournaments. Therefore, this match between two of Sri Lanka’s strongest school water polo teams, will be evenly balanced is guaranteed to be thrilling game.
