Army Athletes shine; win 5 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze

Sri Lanka Army athletes, attending the Lusofonia Games in Goa, India won five gold medals (4x100m), one silver medal (1500m) and three bronze medals (400m hurdles), bringing honour to the country.
Lance Corporal D.M.D Fernando (triple jump), Lance Bombardier R.D.U. Surendra (4x100m), Private B.R.A. Hasaranga (4x100m), Private A.S.M. Ashroff (4x100m), Lance Corporal E.W.U. Ratnakumari (400m), Warrant Officer II P.H. Wimal (1500m), Sergeant K.M. Gunathilake (400m hurdles), Lance Corporal H.K.M. Herath (4x100m) and Private D.G.N.D. Wickramasinghe (400m hurdles) of the Army emerged victorious with five gold, one silver and three bronze medals during the tournament in Goa.
Records made by Army athletes contributed largely to the Sri Lankan contingent.
