Former Thomian cricketer, rugby player, Sri Lanka Sevens player and President of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) Asanga Seneviratne was nominated from the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) for the annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) which will take place on 8 April.
Former Science College, CH&FC player and Sri Lanka Sevens skipper Nazeem Mohamed will compete for the post of secretary. The notable change was of Kiran Attapattu who was beaten by little-known Mohamed Riyaz by four votes for the treasurer position. All three positions for President (Asanga), Vice President (Lasitha) and Secretary (Nazeem) went uncontested.
There were 10 nominations for the seven council members’ positions available. Fazal Mohamed, Ifthikar Ahamed, Roshan Deen, Shamrath Fernando, Tuan Dole, Sunil Ranasinghe and Jude Pillai were selected. Except for Hiran Muttiah and Chula Dharmadasa, the rest were selected after voting.
