Ashan Silva shines at Katukurunda

Ashan Silva, dubbed the ‘People’s Champion,’ secured his position as Champion Driver yet again at the recently concluded AMRC-SLARDAR Tarmac Championship which was held at the Katukurunda Air Force Base. 

Ashan cemented his position as Sri Lanka’s Best Driver in the very first round of the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports’ National Tarmac Championship 2015 by driving two outstanding races which portrayed his skill and class surpassing more than 15 other well-known names in the racing circuit.

Twenty-time champion Ashan, one of the most outstanding drivers ever produced in Sri Lanka, secured both supercar events, the SLGT Cars Up to 3500 CC Race one and two, the two events which steal most of the attraction during any motor racing event in the island.  Time and time again Ashan has been the main crowd puller to racing events held across the island, and this time proved to be the same with the racing fraternity and fans flocking to see the champion burn rubber. Ashan has been dominating these events for quite some-time now and yet again proved himself an unbeaten champion.

Ashan led in front throughout the event showcasing his superiority above the competition and flagged the number one position ahead of Darin Weerasinghe and Abeeth Dangalla who settled to second and third positions respectively.

In the second leg of the super car event Ashan also fortified his position as Champion Driver by securing a healthy lead ahead of all the others. Ashan has indeed become a staple on podiums during every race held here in the island, and is proudly flying the Sri Lankan flag in international circuits as well. 

Sri Lanka’s number one race car driver, Ashan has also found favour among sponsors and fans alike. Ashan is currently looking forward to his next challenge which is the SLADA Gunners Super Cross event which will take off on 4 and 5 July at Minneriya.
