Award winning high jumper Manjula Kumara receives a new home from People’s Bank

People’s Bank Yes Brand Ambassador and award-winning high jumper was presented the deed to a new home by Chairman Hemasiri Fernando, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager N. Vasantha Kumar and Head of Marketing and Research Deepal Abeysekara of People’s Bank in the presence of Manjula’s Manager Faris Ismail. 

W.P. Manjula Kumara, who was born in a rural village in Morawaka, Matara and attended the Vijitha Central College, Dikwella was placed the Sri Lankan National champion in High Jump from the year 2001 onwards. He brought immense glory to Sri Lanka by winning Gold medals at 2004, 2006 and 2016 at the South Asian Games as well as 2005 and 2009 Asian Championship Athletics. After 48 years he was able to represent the country at the 2004 Athens Olympics in High Jump. Manjula Kumara also lays claim to the National Record as well as the South Asian Record in High Jump.

People’s Bank, with its mandate of being a responsible corporate citizen earmarked Manjula Kumara early in his career to be the Yes Brand Ambassador. In recognition of his contribution to the country with his astounding sporting talent, the bank presented Manjula a new home for his family.
