Masters Basketball Sri Lanka’s former President Neil Perera and Mercantile Services Basketball Association’s former President Jayantha Karunaratne have joined hands to impart their knowledge and experience to the youngsters by inaugurating a Basketball Coaching Academy on Saturday 2 July at the MCA Basketball Court, Colombo 7.
The coaching sessions are for boys and girls, between, the ages of eight to 15 years, will be held every Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Joining Perera and Karunaratne in this venture is National basketball player, Jeevanie Wijeratne, presently following a Diploma Course in Sports Science and fresh after touring Malaysia for advanced training.
Neil Perera was a former President of the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) and setting up the flood-lit basketball court at the MCA in 2007 was his brainchild. Thus the Academy will have the full blessings of the MCA.
Karunaratne was a former National Basketball player and National Basketball Selector, who represented the Sri Lanka Police team, a FIBA Referee and a reputed Coach.
