Battle for Power Horn Champions Trophy

The sixth All Island Inter Schools Invitation Football Tournament – AIISIFT 2013 – is underway. The tournament commenced on 26 January 2013 and the final kickoff for Power Horn Champion Trophy will take place on 10 February at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo. Established in 2008, this will be the sixth tournament organised by the Group of 80’s of Hameed Al Husseinie College, Colombo.

Fulfilling the dream of each and every soccer player – to play at the Sugathadasa Stadium under floodlights, the young talent is expected to put on a magnificent show, exhibiting their true colours in front of massive fans that will throng to witness the battle among these football loving schools. The number of fans who came to watch the final match in previous years exceeded the 20,000 mark.

The first tournament was held from 3 to 11 January 2008 at the Sugathadasa Stadium. The main sponsor for this tournament was Dialog. The second tournament was held at the same venue from 3 to 10 January 2009, which was sponsored by Reborn. The third and fourth tournaments were held in 2010 and 2011, during the same period of time at the same venue, sponsored by best deal.

The fifth tournament (FFUTSAL), organised and sponsored by Group of 80’s, was held at the Sugathadasa Stadium’s mini ground in 2012 due to the renovation work carried out at the venue. This year, Power Horn came forward to power it. All these tournaments have been organised with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Schools’ Football Association.
