Big plans for Carey College ‘Walk to the Centenary’ on 10 Nov.

Carey College, situated in the hospital square at Kynsey Road Colombo 8 is at times mistaken for the Medical College and is one of the few fully privately owned schools in the island. It is owned and managed by the Baptist Sangamaya. The Carey College Old Boys Union together with the College have organized the ‘Walk to the Centenary’ on 10 November as the College looks forward to celebrating its Centenary in 2014.

According to the President of the OBU M D M Rizvi the proceeds will be used to refurbish the College Hall in time for the Centenary celebrations. The whole school led by its lady Principal have come together to make ‘Carey Walk N Fair 2012’ the event of the year.

All students and old boys participating in the walk will purchase a Walk ticket priced at Rs. 2000 which includes an attractive T shirt. Tickets are available at the College office. Hemamali Bibile is the first lady Principal in the 98 year history of the college took over Carey College having been the Principal of yet another leading girl’s school – Bishops College. It was in the Montessori of Carey College that she learnt her ABC before entering Ladies College and started her teaching profession as a teacher at Carey College.

An elaborate day of bargains and entertainment for the whole family is planned for the day with a Carnival like fair that will be held after the walk with many interesting and worthwhile firms undertaken to sell their products at a discounted price.
