Bishoo stars in West Indies win over Pakistan

West Indies beat Pakistan by seven runs in the one-off Twenty20 International on Thursday at the Beausejour Cricket Ground in St Lucia.

West Indies posted 150-7, thanks to Lendl Simmons' 65 opening the innings. Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo took 4-17 in four overs, holding Pakistan to 143-9. Ravi Rampaul took 3-31.

Pakistan needed 14 runs off the final over bowled by Andre Russell. The close margin of defeat doesn't reflect how far behind Pakistan were in the game.

Pakistan were put under pressure when Simmons struck seven fours and two sixes from 44 deliveries, and Darren Bravo made 42 from 33 balls as West Indies built a total of 150 for seven from their 20 overs.

Abdur Rehman gave Pakistan an early breakthrough, when he trapped Andre Fletcher lbw for one, but Simmons and Bravo added 99 for the second wicket to put West Indies back on track.

Rehman made the breakthrough again when he had Darren Bravo caught at long-on, and West Indies wobbled the rest of the way, with no other batsman passing 20.

West Indies were 101-1 in the 13th over, but struggled to 150 with Rehman, Saeed Ajmal and Wahab Riaz taking two wickets each. Pakistan's chase never got going. They lost wickets at regular intervals with only Umar Akmal (41) providing a substantial score.

Misbah-ul Haq was out in bizarre fashion when he walked back onto his stumps for a hit-wicket to Bishoo.

Ajmal hit a couple of fours late in the innings to bring Pakistan close but the target proved too tall for the visitors.
