Business Management School (BMS ‘B’) retained the cup championship, getting the better of their BMS ‘C’ team 12-6 in the cup final, and grabbed the SAGT trophy at the third inter-university Flag Football tournament which concluded at Race Course rugby grounds last weekend.
In the plate championship final Jaffna ‘A’ beat Jaffna ‘B’ 14-7 while the bowl was by NIBM ‘A’ beating Jaffna ‘C’ 14-7. The shield championship was won by the Old Bens ‘A’ who edged out Old Bens ‘B’ 7-6.
For the second consecutive year, South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) Ltd. was the platinum sponsor of the tournament. EFLI Sri Lanka CEO/GM Dilroy Fernando said: “American football was introduced to Sri Lanka in 2011 by the Elite Football League of India (EFLI) and due to its many parallels to rugby the sport is becoming very popular amongst the locals. We are delighted to see teams all over the island taking part in the tournament. We are so grateful to SAGT for coming forward and propping with us to have this annual event a huge success.”
