BMW Golf Cup winners head to South Africa

The winners of the BMW Golf Cup International 2012 tournament Sri Lanka, held in November 2012 will represent the country in South Africa, at the World Final of the BMW Golf Cup International early March 2013.

Representing Sri Lanka will be Gents division 1 winner Lalith Rohitha (in place of indisposed Nirmal Hettiarachchi), the Gents division 2 winner Mindika Hetiiarachchi and the Ladies division winner Michele Mirchandani who are sponsored by the local BMW agent Prestige Automobile.

The largest gathering of amateur golfers in the world, the global tournament will kick off on 4 March, and include three rounds of high quality golf. Players will be given an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the course on Tuesday, 5 March, while the tournament proper will be played off from 6 to 8 March 2013.

The event will culminate in a special golf clinic and gala dinner featuring top South African golfer Gary Player, who will also present the winners with their trophies on 9 March.

The famed Fancourt Golf Resort has received numerous awards, including being named Africa’s number one golf resort in 2009. The resort is located at the ‘Garden Route’, which is a 200 km stretch along the Southern Coast of South Africa, from Heidleberg in the Western Cape to the Storms River in the Eastern Cape region.



The tournament will also feature many fun aspects with guided tours, excursions, adventures into the wilds of Africa and numerous culinary experiences showcasing South Africa’s amazing cuisine and wines.
