In post-match comments, victorious Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardena said that his boys showed a lot of character and that’s what their plans were before the match.

Mahela also acknowledged it was a team effort with a useful contribution from Sanga behind the wicket and Dilshan in the field.

He was full of praise for the crowd and said that it felt like they were at home and was mighty pleased with the response they received.

With regard to the injury to strike bowlers Thisara Perera, Farvez Mahroof, Angelo Mathews, the Lankan Captain felt that at least one person was needed for the finals, reckons Mathews is important and Maharoof should be okay.

Man of the Match, Dinesh Chandimal said that he had been playing well throughout the series. He also praised Mahela and Kumar as legends and said it was a privilege to share the dressing room with them.

Losing Captain Shane Watson said it was a brilliant game of cricket and they never knew who was going to win.  Aussie stand-in Captain praises David Hussey and said that he batted beautifully throughout the series.

“Hussey had backed himself to get into a position to chase 10 runs off the last over,” said Watson, who reckons they were out of the chase with three wickets but it was a good game of cricket and unfortunately they were on the losing side.
