Brandix sponsors J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in New York

Brandix recently partnered the 2014 J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in New York as a Bronze Sponsor and the official Apparel Solutions Provider. Regarded as the most popular squash tournament in the world, the Tournament of Champions took place at the Grand Central Terminal from 17 – 24 January. The top 10 squash players in the world were among the 32 men and 16 women competitors at this year’s tournament, which saw Egypt’s Amr Shabana and Malaysia’s Nicol Ann David emerge Men’s and Women’s champion respectively. As part of its sponsorship of this prestigious international sporting event, Brandix presented custom-designed and branded players’ shirts to all the competitors. Present here are Brandix Chairman Priyan Fernando(extreme right) and Director Trevine Jayasekara (2nd from left) at the presentation of an official Brandix Tournament of Champions player shirt to the 2014 J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions Women’s winner Nicol Ann David soon after her first-ever participation and title victory. John Nimick, President of Event Engine Inc., the producer of the Tournament of Champions event is also here. Considered one of the greatest women’s squash players of all time, Nicol David has had an inspirational sporting career. The first squash player to have won the World Junior title twice, she went on to become the youngest world squash champion at the age of 21 after winning the gold medal at the World Open in Germany. She became the World’s number 1 female squash player in January 2006 at the age of 23 and is the first Malaysian and the first Asian woman to be ranked World number 1 in the sport.
