Budding cricketers must work hard, says Jayasuriya

Express News Service (Shivamogga): Former Sri Lankan international cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya urged budding cricket players to work hard. He was speaking after distributing prizes to players after a cricket match between Shivamogga Cricket Academy (SCA) and the Sanath Jayasuriya Foundation in which children from age groups under-9, under- 12 and under-14 participated.

Speaking about his career, he said he started playing cricket when he was six years old. He said parents should encourage their children to focus on cricket along with their education. He said: “India is like my second home and I am thrilled with the support and hospitality I received during my stay in India.”
SP Koushalendra Kumar also spoke. Jayasuriya and his wife were felicitated along with veteran cricketer of the city Puttappa.
