In his post match comments Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardena said: We did not bat well. We lost a few wickets upfront but still got a good start. Did not bat too well in the middle, Just needed around 7-7.5 runs per over in the last 5 but we messed it up. Just need to focus better. Yeah, take a break and prepare ourselves for the Sri Lankan Premier League and then the T20 World Cup.

Victorious Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said: Overall, I think we performed really well. We slowed down in the middle overs. Initially we thought that it will be a low-scoring game as the ODI played over here was high-scoring one. And when the Lankans got off to a great start, I thought that we were 15-20 runs short. But the bowlers came back brilliantly, bowled in the right areas and the fielding was excellent as the run outs was crucial. This is a comfortable side for us, 7 batsmen. The track has been re-laid from the last time we came over here. We did really well, even after we were playing a long break. Someone or the other stepped up to the plate to help the team win the match and now I feel that we are developing into a consistent team.”
