The Carlton Super Sevens Rugby 2013 fiesta will kick off this weekend with the newly introduced two-legged Franchiser’s Tournament which will begin today (29). The tournament, which will be held at the Race Course ground in Nuwara Eliya on 29 and 30 June, will feature only local players in the 10 franchise teams that participate in the main tournament.
The two local tournaments have been included in addition to the main event to choose the best possible local players to play along with the world’s leading sevens players. The second leg of the local tournament will be worked out on 6 and 7 July at Jayathilleke Stadium in Nawalapitiya.
In the local tournaments, North Central Typhoons, Uva Vipers, Jaffna Challengers, Eastern Eagles and Southern Sharks will compete from Group ‘A’ while Central Kings, Western Warriors, Northern Gladiators, North Western Blacks and Sabaragamuwa Stallions vie from Group ‘B’.
