CASA Six-A-Side Softball Cricket Tournament on 25 April

The Ceylon Association of Ships’ Agents (CASA) through its sports committee will conduct the 17th Annual CASA Six-A-Side Softball Cricket Tournament which will be held on 25 April at the NCC grounds.
CASA is the leading voice in the shipping industry in Sri Lanka with a membership of 134 licensed shipping agents representing all international shipping lines who use the ports of Sri Lanka.
The tournament is open to all member agency companies of CASA.
This year as a special feature the tournament will be worked off under floodlights from the quarter final stage onwards in the gents section.
The tournament will commence at 8 a.m. on 25 April and conclude at 9 p.m. the same day.
A total of 68 teams have confirmed their participation.
The tournament will have two segments, namely the gents and ladies sections, and will be worked off on a knockout basis.
There are a total of 55 gents teams and 13 ladies teams participating this year.
The last year 2014 winners who will defend their title this year are APL Lanka Ltd., in the gents section and V.V.K. Maritime Agencies Ltd. in the ladies section.
The tournament which was first played in 1994 has been gaining tremendous popularity among the shipping agency companies year in and year out.
Also notable feature is that this tournament has only been played at the NCC grounds since inception.
A mini tournament will also be worked off among the service providers in the shipping industry, namely Sri Lanka Customs, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT), Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) and Colombo Dockyard.
