CEAT AMRC-SLARDAR Tarmac Championship on 15 November in Pannala

The thrilling CEAT AMRC-SLARDAR Tarmac Championship is coming to a close this November. On 14 and 15 November, the final races will be held in Pannala to determine who will be the ultimate winners of the Championship. The sponsors for this meet are CEAT, Kelani International Ltd., Stafford Motors Ltd., Toyota Lanka Ltd. and Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC.

Eight winners will be awarded the Championship titles and trophies as the reward for their performances during all three meets over the summers. The well-attended races left motorsports fans shouting themselves hoarse for the competitors, excitement building up with each meet and now coming to a fever pitch.

Currently the racers in the lead are Ashan Silva for Group SL-GT Cars upto 3500 cc, Group Nishan Wasalathanthri for SL-S Cars upto 1500 cc, Brayan Perera tied with Chandima Gooneratne for Group – SL F Formula McLarens 4 EFI 1300 CC, Sumal Marco Warnakulasooriya for Group – SL F Formula McLarens Carburetor 1300 CC, Susantha Gunawardena for Group SL N Ford Laser/Mazda 1300 CC, Pramuka Sesath De Silva for Group M  Standard/Modified Motorcycles Open Over 250 cc, and Suraj Perera for Group SM Super Motard upto 450 CC.

Will they hold on to their lead during the final meet? Nobody knows. The gaps between first and second place, point-wise, could be closed by a single win in some categories. Nothing is certain and every racer who’ll take to the field will be doing their very best to collect those precious points that could clinch the championship for them. Come down to the Pannala Circuit Meet and watch racing history be made in this exhilarating finale to a series of truly amazing meets.


 

2015 CEAT SLADA Championship Awards on 21 November

The curtain will come down on another year of adrenaline filled motor racing on Saturday, 21 November when the superstars of Sri Lanka’s racetracks are honoured at the 2015 CEAT SLADA Championship Awards, supported for the sixth consecutive year by the country’s leading tyre brand CEAT.

A total of 17 awards including the four top awards for Best Driver, Best Rider, the Team Championship for Cars and the Team Championship for Motorbikes will be presented at this glamorous awards gala, at which Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera is scheduled to preside as Chief Guest.

This year’s event will see the presentation of awards to nine individual supporting champions and four awards to the best drivers and riders at team events, as well as the presentation of awards of appreciation to the regiments that organised the race meets in the year’s calendar and the sponsors of the events.

Performances at the five major race meets of 2015, the Fox Hill Super Cross, Sigiriya Rally Cross, Gunners Super Cross, Gajaba Super Cross and Rotherham Katukurunda Circuit Meet were considered for this year’s CEAT SLADA Championship Awards.

“The conduct of the racing events and the standard of the racing improve each year, thanks to the passion of sponsors like CEAT, the commitment of the armed forces regiments that host the races and the hard work of the SLADA team,” President of the Sri Lanka Auto-sports Drivers Association Major Dilhan Jayawardena said.“The racing fraternity is eagerly looking forward to crowning the champions of the year in a fitting matter at the 2015 CEAT SLADA Awards Night.”

Besides its sponsorship of the CEAT SLADA Championship and its support to the race meets conducted by the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Air Force, CEAT also fields its own racing team at many of these meets, supporting and encouraging individual drivers to improve on their performances.

CEAT Kelani Holdings has also supported the sport’s governing body Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS) since 2012. As part of its partnership with SLAS, CEAT Kelani Holdings is the principal sponsor of all Ford Laser/Mazda 1300cc and 1500cc ‘One Make’ racing events conducted during the year, at which all competing drivers race on CEAT radial tyres.
