CEAT Racing Team revs up with 16 podium finishes at Foxhill

Three of the CEAT Racing Team’s drivers with their trophies at the Foxhill Supercross (from left) Janaka Dias, Ushan Perera and Upulwan Serasinghe     In its first competitive outing of the 2015 season, the CEAT Racing Team secured 16 podium finishes at the Foxhill Supercross in Diyatalawa, signaling its intent to continue the form that gave it the car team championship last year. Members of the CEAT Racing Team were placed second in two events, third in three events, fourth in eight and fifth in three at this race meet, with nine of the 11 racers securing podium finishes in their events. Three of the team’s 16 podium finishes were achieved by Upulwan Serasinghe (Group SL-N Ford Laser/Mazda 1300cc, and Group SL-H 1600cc races 1 and 2), while Shashika Lakmal Wijerathna, Janaka Dias, Ushan Perera, Lalin Kirinda and motorcycle racer Jacques Gunawardana secured two podium finishes each. “This is a solid start to the year’s racing for the CEAT team and for its individual drivers,” said Ravi Dadlani, Vice President Sales and Marketing at CEAT Kelani Holdings. “We are confident of an even stronger performance as the racing season progresses.” The CEAT Racing Team for the 2015 racing season comprises of ace drivers Upulwan Serasinghe, Janaka Dias, Pasindu Peiris, Ushan Perera, Shashika Lakmal Wijerathna, Lalin Kirinda, Prasanna De Alwis, Lt. Colonel Duminda Jayasinghe, Lt. Colonel Indu Samarakoon and motorcycle racers Jacques Gunawardana and Sampath Kumara. The team will race under CEAT colours at the six race meets to be conducted by the Sri Lanka Auto-sports Drivers Association (SLADA), for the 2015 CEAT SLADA Championship. The six race meets are the just concluded Foxhill Supercross, Sigiriya Supercross (16-17 May), Cavalry Supercross (13-14 June), Gunners’ Supercross (4-5 July), Gajaba Supercross (29-30 August), and the Rotherham Katukurunda Circuit Meet (17-18 October). These race meets include the Ford Laser/Mazda 1300cc and 1500cc ‘One Make’ racing events, at which all competing drivers race on CEAT radial tyres.
