The Central Province Under-20 rugby squad was announced yesterday for the game against Western Province on 8 November at Havelock Park.
This encounter will be played in order to select the Under-20 national squad for the Junior World Rugby Tournament (JWRT) Asian Region, which will be hosted by Malaysia in December. Sri Lanka will play Malaysia (11th), Hong Kong (14th) and Taipei (17th) in the four-team event which is generally dominated by Hong Kong. The winner will book their berth at next year’s JWRT in Uruguay.
The Central Province Under-20 outfit is coached by Nalaka Weerakody and Priyantha Gunaratne. The selected 34 players will be brought down to 25 today after the trials at the Bogambara Stadium. Meanwhile, the Colombo outfit is coached by Nilfer Ibrahim and Terence Henry.
