Chamila and Lal Wellakkage win SMSC Members Day Rally 2014

Text and pix by P.D. De Silva Chamila and Lal Wellakkage won the 2014 members day rally held by the Southern Motor Sports Club last Sunday. They received only four debit points in completing the 70.14km course plotted by veteran plotter Andrew Silva which took them from Matara via Polhena, Kamburugamuwa, Issadeen town, Hiththetiya, Godagama, Kokmaduwa, Wellathota, Nadugala, Diyagaha, Kekanadura and ended at Matara. The Godagama-Kokmaduwa stretch was on the E01 expressway. In all, 27 participants took the flag this year. The prize giving and members day dinner was a gala event held at the Pearl Cliff hotel and was well attended.
