The fourth and final round of the Ceylon Motor Sports Club Sri Lanka Karting Circuit Championship 2013 was held at the Bandaragama Karting Circuit on Sunday, 26 January 2014. Exceptional karting talents were on display on this day when five drivers were crowned CMSC/SLKC – Sri Lanka Karting Circuit Champions for their super performance throughout the four rounds under five categories. Raees Uvaim won the IK2 category ahead of Damith Weerasinghe who was placed second on Sunday, but that could not prevent Weerasinghe beating him on the points table. Weerasinghe and Uvaim collected the same number of points, but Weerasinghe was crowned champion in the IK2 category. Young Nadeera Jinasena showed his supremacy by booking the top slot of the podium once again, ahead of Ameen Deane and Ravin Wannithamby who were placed second and third respectively in the IK3 category on Sunday. He was the clear champion in his category after the four rounds of the championship. NK1 category saw the young drivers between the ages of 12-16 in action. Kevin Perera, who caught the attention of those who were present at the picturesque site to witness some classy karting, was clearly ahead of Jason Carron and Adeeb Gazzalli to win the championship in his category. Ayesh Bandara emerged NK2 category champion. He, however, lost his last race to Dinesh Pathirana on Sunday. R. Theepakumar and Charith Gunawardena were the other drivers who finished on top of the points table after the four rounds. Shyamal Mendis finished first in the final race of NK3 category on Sunday. He topped the points table ahead of Janidhu Seneviratne and Ranil Silva. The ladies’ event was won by Mukeeta Manukulasuriya who drove her kart ahead of second placed A. Wickrema and Gayesha Dissanayake who finished third. The 800-metre long karting track which is built according to international standards was the perfect location to host the event. A number of young up-and-coming drivers as well as seasoned drivers on four wheels used the opportunity to show off their skills under six categories on mini-four wheelers which are brand-new. A festive atmosphere prevailed at the venue with dancers adding glamour to the event. Veteran journalist Brian Elies was the chief guest at the event which was organised by Ceylon Motor Sports Club and Sri Lanka Karting Circuit. The main sponsor for the event was WOW.lk while co-sponsors were David Pieris Motor Company and Assetline. At the Sri Lanka Karting Circuit competitors could also own their own karts and race on the 800m circuit.
