Chance to be part of British High Commission 2012 Games

The British High Commission (BHC) in Colombo is organising an event – the BHC 2012 Games – to mark the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The BHC 2012 Games will be held in the British High Commission premises on Friday, 13 July, marking 50 days to the start of the London 2012 Paralympic Games (which falls on 10 July).

London 2012 Paralympics games will be held from 29 August to 9 September. The event will bring together groups of people who have been affected by conflict, from diverse backgrounds, in line with the ideals of the Olympic Truce and the Olympic values. Exhibition events for archery, swimming and tennis will be held at the BHC 2012 Games.

The British High Commission invites people to answer three simple questions through their Facebook page and win invitations to the BHC 2012 Games event as well as London 2012 memorabilia.  Three winners will be selected from those who answer all three questions correctly.  

Q1: In which year was the first official Paralympics Games was held?

(a) 1960          (b) 1948            (c) 1920



Q2: According to World Health Organization, what is the percentage of disabled population in the world?

(a)20%              (b) 15%          (c) 5%



Q3: How many sports included in the London 2012 Paralympics?

The answers should be sent to www.facebook.com/bhccolombo via a Facebook message with the email address and a contact number of the sender. The competition will run from 3 July to midnight on 8 July. The three winners will be required to attend the BHC 2012 Games on Friday, 13 July (from 2.30-6p.m.) to receive their gifts.

They will also be allowed to bring along a guest. (Please note that the winners and their guests will be subject to necessary security verifications and checks.)
