Former Manager of Sri Lanka Cricket Team, Charith Senanayake, in response to yesterday’s Daily FT story titled ‘Sri Lanka Cricket sacks team manager, Michael de Zoysa appointed’, sent the following clarification:

I never leaked information nor wrote to the press regarding the team or any other matter. However, in view of a paper article that appeared in one of the newspapers regarding player incentives, Mahela sent a letter clarifying matters. In the letter, it was mentioned that he lost faith in SLC since someone leaked information in a confidential letter he handed over to SLC.  Contrary to what actually transpired, your article says that Mahela in a press release stated that the team lost confidence in me for leaking information to the press. In which press release did Mahela say that he and the team lost confidence in me for releasing information to the press? This is totally false, and brings disrepute to myself. For your information, I had nothing to do with the whole episode other than forwarding Mahela’s clarification to the press.
