At the badminton courts of the Royal College Indoor Sports Complex, 17 teams from the premier five-star city hotel Cinnamon Grand vied for a win at the debut Inter Department Badminton Championship 2016, on 23 July.
With 20 teams competing, the games were intense as well as interesting.
Men’s Open, was won by Security Eagles with Finance Tuskers (B) coming in as runners up. Women’s Open was won by the Sales Force with Kitchen Culinary Champs coming in second.
Men’s Over 40 was won by Security Eagles after a battle with Finance Tuskers (A).
J.K.A. Mahendra was awarded as the Man of the Tournament in Men’s Open while Man of the Tournament – Men’s Over 40 went to Priyanga Dissanayake, both from Security Eagles.
Vishadini Fernando from the Sales Force was recognised as the Woman of the Tournament.
Over 150 Hotel’s associates gathered at the complex to cheer on the participants.
