Cinnamon Lakeside Inter-Department Cricket Tournament

Champions of the women's team, Lakeside Bollywood team, with Cinnamon Lakeside General Manager Dermot Gale ​

Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo held their much anticipated Inter-Department Cricket Tournament on Saturday, 18 July at the Malay Grounds.

Following a series of matches with other departmental teams, F&B ‘B’ and Engineering ‘A’ were the finalists vying for the coveted trophy. After an exciting match, the F&B ‘B’ team emerged winners. G.T. Wijesuriya from Engineering was honoured with the title of ‘Man of the Tournament’. M.A.Y. Anuruddha (S/C) was named the ‘Best Batsman’, D.M.P.K. Dissanayake (ENG – A) the ‘Best Bowler’ and M.A.Y. Anuruddha (S/C) was accoladed for the ‘Highest (number of) Sixes’ during the tournament. 

The event saw 24 teams representing various departments of the hotel taking part in the tournament, inclusive of two women’s teams. The champions of the ladies team were the ‘Lakeside Bollywood’ team comprising members from Marketing Communications, House Keeping, F&B, Reservations, Front Office and Laundry.

Led by the amiable General Manager of Cinnamon Lakeside Dermot Gale, 234 Cinnamon Lakeside associates donned cricketing gear and took to the field for a series of fiercely competitive matches. 

The fun-filled day was made even more memorable with the carnival atmosphere that was created for associates to kick back and relax with plenty of food, drinks and fun activities organised.
