Cinnamon Red Inter Department Cricket 6’s 2016

Lean luxury property Cinnamon Red’s second annual Inter Department Cricket tournament concluded on Sunday, 25 September, with the hotel’s HR team taking home the winner’s trophy along with several key titles.

Held at Colombo Cricket Club Grounds (CCC), 11 teams competed at the tournament representing all departments. After a series of nail-biting matches, HR and Front Office, alias SWAT and Multi Skill teams qualified for the finals. HR set a tough target of 123 runs, and the Front Office team was eventually bowled out for just 71 runs.

The incredible bowling and batting prowess witnessed on the field by Prabothan Joseph representing team HR was recognised with the coveted Player of the Tournament (Male) title as well as being awarded for the Most Number of Sixes (24). 

Pasan Wijewardana and Dhinal Perera, also representing HR were accoladed as Best Fielder and Player of the Final.  Best Bowler (Male) went to Manoj Praparker from Front Office while Best Batsman (Male) went to Shehan Dharmarathna from F&B.

In order to assure equality on the field, as is done at the workplace, the tournament rules makes it essential for each team to recruit a female player, who acted as the opening batsman and bowler. Thilina Perera from Housekeeping was thus acclaimed as Player of the Tournament (Female) and as Best Batsman (Female). The Best Bowler (Female) went to Anoushka Tissera from Front Office.

Over 150 associates gathered at the Grounds to cheer on their teams and enjoyed a fun-filled day with good food, drinks and papare music.
