AAP: Injured Australian captain Michael Clarke will be joined on the sidelines by paceman James Pattinson for Thursday’s tri-series decider against Sri Lanka.
Pattinson has strained a buttock muscle and will miss the third final at Adelaide Oval, Australian coach Mickey Arthur said.Pattinson is having scans later on Wednesday, as is Clarke on his injured left hamstring. Clarke has been ruled out of Thursday’s fixture amid fears he could also miss the looming one-day series in the West Indies.
Arthur said the extent of Clarke’s hamstring strain remained unknown.“It doesn’t look great for certainly the early part of the one-day series in the West Indies,” Arthur told reporters in Adelaide. The Australian squad depart for the West Indies on Friday. Pattinson strained a glute muscle while diving in the field during Australia’s loss to the Sri Lankans in Wednesday’s second final in Adelaide.
