Colombo Cycle Fun Ride on 10 June

The 25 km Colombo Cycle Fun Ride is the latest most exciting new event to hit the city! A group of cycle enthusiasts known as ‘The Pedal Pushers,’ along with MBSL Insurance, the event sponsor and radio sponsors E FM and RAN FM is extending an invitation to all cycle enthusiasts to help promote and support cycling as a green leisure activity.

The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 10 June 2012, at Green Path adjoining the Viharamahadevi Park. All similarly inclined persons are invited to be there at 7 a.m. with friends, family, school mates and, of course, bicycles! Helmets would be a preferred option.

The vision of the promoters is to popularize cycling as a recreational sport for families, for health and fitness, social interaction, as an environmental friendly mode of transport or simply to enjoy the pleasure of ‘off-roading’ or to take in the beautiful landmarks that grace the city.

The Fun Ride is not a race! 25 km is 4 loops of 6 km. So one has the choice of doing as many loops as one likes, which all start and end at the same place.

2 km to 6 km for kids aged 8 to 11 years

12.5 km for teens. All must be accompanied by adults.

25 km for 16+ and adults.

The Mayor of Colombo A.J.M. Muzzamil will be the Chief Guest and award prizes for the fanciest dressed cyclist and the best decorated bike.
