Colts to felicitate its first Sri Lanka Captain Angelo Mathews

The Colombo Colts Cricket Club is one of the oldest clubs in the Colombo Club circuit and has been a reputed club for over 140 years. We have proudly produced many national level cricketers since the club’s inception. Roy dias, Chaminda Vaas, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Dulip Samaraweera, Dulip  Liyanage, Chaminda Mendis, Malinda Warnapura, Nuwan Kulasekera, Dilruwan Perera, Thisara Perera,  Kusal Janith Perera Akila Dhananjaya are a few such personalities. The first Colombo Colts cricketer to captain the Sri Lanka national cricket team after having achieved Test status is none other than the present national team captain Angelo Mathews. The national team will also grace the occasion. Angelo first joined the club in the year 2005 immediately after his school career and he has been a loyal member of the club to date. The club is indeed proud of his performances and the status he has achieved bringing honour to the club. Thus the club wishes to felicitate him in an appropriate manner on 14 March 2014. The club will also be felicitating Roy Dias, the first ever Colts player to represent the national team in Test cricket in 1982, Dinesha Perera, the first  ever national hockey captain from the Colombo Colts Cricket Club to captain the women’s national  hockey team and  Vanessa de Silva nee Bowen the first ever national women’s cricket captain. Colts will also be unveiling the photographs of the Past Presidents of the club since 1873 and launch its website as well.
