Commercial Bank beats HNB to win 40th mercantile 7-a-side hockey contest

The Mercantile Hockey Association conducted its 40th Annual Men’s Seven-a-Side Tournament on Sunday at the P. Saravanamuttu Grounds (Oval). Commercial Bank A emerged Champs in ‘A’ Division and won the Dennis De Rosayro trophy beating HNB A. ‘B’ Division Singer trophy winner was Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC ‘B’ and ‘C’ Division Lifebuoy Trophy was won by Nations Trust Bank PLC. The ‘D’ Division Edmund J Cooray Trophy was won by Sampath Bank PLC ‘B’ and the ‘E’ Division Ceylon Cold Stores was bagged by WSO2.

The Chief Guests was Thermex Lanka Ltd. Patron Mercantile Hockey Association/Senior Tea Consultant Bryan Baptist and the Guest of Honour was Hilton Colombo General Manager Manesh Fernando. People’s Leasing and Finance PLC, MAS Holdings and Hilton Colombo will jointly sponsor this prestigious event.
