The Sri Lankan Sevens outfit under skipper Dhanushka Ranjan will begin the final leg of the Asian Sevens 2016 at the race course grounds on 15 October.
At present the host nation is four points behind Hong Kong, who have 24 points. Meanwhile, the women’s team, which missed out on participating in the second leg in South Korea, finished eighth out of 11 teams with four points.
The men’s team will face Taipei (1.12 p.m.), Singapore (4.04 p.m.) and China (7.04 p.m.) while the women will be action against Hong Kong (12.06 p.m.), China (2.40 p.m.) and Singapore (5.58 p.m.) in their group outings before moving on to the knockout stage on Day 2, which will commence in the afternoon of 16 October.
The squad is in training in Colombo under Head Coach Matt Turner. The final squad of 12 players will be named tomorrow. Kevin Dixon and Jason Dissanayake both played a vital role in the first leg in Hong Kong and are likely to return to the squad. The only doubtful starter is Sudharshan Muthuthanthri, who missed both legs and is still recovering from injury.
