Sri Lanka Cricket’s Cricket Aid was launched in London on Saturday evening (4 June) amidst a packed gathering of cricketers and well-wishers.

The dinner was preceded by a tour of Lord’s and followed by a documentary presentation that detailed the work of Cricket Aid as well as the CKD pandemic.

Cricket Aid is pleased to announce that over £200,000 was pledged at the launch events, held on the 4th and 5th (being an open event held at the Surrey Grounds, where the Sri Lanka national team met and mingled with cricket lovers residing in the UK.)

Cricket Aid was established in 2004, following the devastating Boxing Day Tsunami, and most recently was resurrected with the aim of raising funds for the eradication of the Chronic Kidney Disease pandemic that is rampant in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka.

Committed to bringing assistance in times of national disaster Cricket Aid recently was able to collect and distribute close to Rs. 10 million worth of assistance to those affected by the catastrophic floods in Sri Lanka.

Cricket Aid believes that it is the duty and obligation of the sport to give back to the people who support it with passion and commitment and in the very essence of the statement that we are truly ‘1Team and 1Nation’.
