Crysbro brings glory to Sri Lanka with ‘The Next Champ’

In a nation which is thirsting for more and more heroes, the makers of Crysbro Chicken have taken up the laudable task of unearthing ‘The Next Champ’ from across a wide spectrum of sports. The best part is that they will be doing so, every single week of the year.

‘The Next Champ’ is an innovative project which brings together Crysbro in an adrenalin charged collaboration with MTV Sports Channel as the media partner and MindFor Integrated Solutions offering conceptual and creative support. The Next Champ is aired as part of the popular ‘Game Changer’ sports program on MTV Sports, every Friday at 8:00 p.m.

The objective of this project is to locate the most talented and promising individuals in a variety of sports and to support and encourage them continuously in every possible way. The idea is to groom them for success at the next level leading up to triumph at the international level. The support offered will include a monthly financial package, sporting gear and equipment, access to renowned coaches and training facilities and even sponsorship for participation at overseas events.

The team behind The Next Champ has been scouring the length and breadth of the island and have been successful in identifying some truly amazing talent in a wide variety of sports.

The maiden episode of The Next Champ was aired on MTV last week where W.K. Himasha Eshan from Kalutara was chosen as the winner. Schooling at Kalutara Mahavidyalaya, the 17-year-old Himasha Eshan was the winner of the men’s 100 metres sprint, clocking 10.50 seconds as he dashed ahead of older and more experienced athletes, at the National Athletics Championship held at Sugathadasa Stadium recently.

Justifying his selection as The Next Champ, Himasha Eshan went on to win the best athlete award in the under 20 men’s category at the 24th National Youth Sports Festival 2012 concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium on 25 November. He set up a new meet record in the men’s 100 metres. With the right support and training, Himasha Eshan has the potential to make vast strides in his performance and bring fame to the nation in the years ahead.

In this respect, ‘The Next Champ’ is sure to play a significant role in unearthing new talent such as Eshan and nurturing them to reach the next level and beyond. Sri Lanka has the potential to shine in the international sporting arena, if more and more such talent is discovered and provided with professional training in world-class facilities, in order to bring out their highest possible levels in performance.

Every individual chosen as ‘The Next Champ’ will be the future standard-bearer and source of hope for the nation in the particular sport that he or she represents. The Next Champ will also inspire the younger generations to excel in their chosen sports and aspire to even greater heights, bringing pride and glory to Sri Lanka.
