The Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka successfully concluded its annual indoor and outdoor sports meet recently.
The indoor sports events were held on 13 September at the indoor sports complex of D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo and the outdoor events took place at Shalika Grounds Narahenpita on 21 September.
Competitions for badminton, table tennis, swimming, squash, carom, track and field events, netball, volleyball and tug of war were staged at the sports meet.
The DCSL sports meet was organised for the third consecutive year with the participation of over 200 staff members in various sports activities. Such events are organised to enhance sportsmanship, showcase talent and improve teamwork among employees.
This also facilitates a platform for staff members who represent different regions and subsidiaries to socialise and get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Central Heroes won the championship by a close margin for the second consecutive year. The Northern Warriors emerged as first runner-up.
H.M. Buddhika Bandara of Head Office, who represented the Colombo Riders, became the DCSL Sportsman 2014 for the second consecutive year while W.M. Priyadarshani Perera of Central Heroes became the DCSL Sportswoman 2014.
