Kalutara Town Club, one of the oldest cricket playing clubs in the country that was founded in 1888, held its 129th Annual General Meeting on 19 March at its premises.
Accordingly incumbent President Deepal V. Perera was re-elected as the President, together with the new committee.
President Deepal Perera addressing the members said that his dream is to make KTC the best outstation cricket playing club in the country and thanked all members for placing their trust in him.
“KTC is a pathfinder for youngsters who want to excel in the game of cricket. Silently and steadily, we have served the nation by showing the path to youth to become international cricketers. We are determined to serve our nation and produce many more international players who will earn the opportunity to play for our national team and build international careers in the world of cricket, in the future,” said Deepal.
KTC cricket status was repositioned into the Premier tear B first class cricket. The club went into the history books in the game of cricket in Sri Lanka by winning the first ever inter-club tournament held in the island, The Daily News Trophy in 1938 under the leadership of Sir Cyril De Soyza.
