Defending champs Navy to kick off club rugby season

By Shamseer Jaleel The new inter-club rugby season will kick off on 31 October at Beliatte, when defending champions Sri Lanka Navy SC face the Hambantota Sharks at Beliatte. This game will be refereed by Pradeep Fernando. On the following day, Sri Lanka Air Force will meet the Kandy Sports Club in Ratmalana. Kandy SC, being led by Sean Wijesinghe, will be all out to win the league this time around. Kandy SC will be coached by Johan Taylor, who is making a return to the hill capital. Kandy have already signed two South African and one Fijian player. Referee Dharmapala Nimal will handle this encounter. Police SC will host Havelocks SC at Police Park with Aruna Rankothge refereeing. On 2 November, Army SC, captained Rohitha Rajapaksa, will host CR&FC, who will be led by Ashan Costa with Imthisam Marrikar heading the coaching unit of the Red Shirts. Priyantha Gunaratne will be the referee for this game.
