DFCC Group grounds high-flying SriLankan

Group B entrants DFCC Group put their superior skills and experience on turbo charge to beat favourites SriLankan Airlines by a convincing margin of 14 points at the 2013 Mercantile Services Basketball Association Knockout Tournament played at the Otters Courts on Thursday 31 October.

DFCC Group skippered by Maxwell Saranapala, qualified to play in the B division by emerging Champions in the C Division a couple of months ago put their big game experience to play and piled on the points against their opponents from the word go and maintained a 10-point lead throughout the match. Jayanth Fernando the former Michaelean was in unstoppable form as he drove and shot his way to a tally of 16 points, while the twin towers Duminda and Diluk held their own under the post with their skill, height and power advantage. Hemantha Fernado with 13 points and Nilupul Silva with 12 Points also had a good game for the Champs; Jayanth Fernando was adjudged MVP of the final.
