Ranking Sri Lanka’s No. 1 professional golfer, Mithun Perera will be sponsored by Dialog Enterprise, the corporate solutions arm of premier telephony services provider Dialog Axiata for the 2012 pro golf season in the Asian circuit.

It is the first sponsorship deal that the Sri Lankan world class golfer signed, since turning professional in 2010.

Under the agreement Mithun Perera will endorse Dialog as a brand ambassador, as he continues his significant entry in to the Asian professional golf circuit. The sponsorship agreement will cover Mithun’s expenses while he’s on tour of the Asian pro circuit. wAttached to the Royal Colombo Golf Club Mithun Perera, is the son of the legendary golfer Nandasena Perera, during the last few years he saw his professional golfing career tee-off to new heights from humble beginnings on the green.

In 2000 he emerged the U15 junior champion and never looked back. Since his first win, Mithun has bagged over 16 wins locally and internationally.  He is the first ever Sri Lankan to qualify for the Australian Open Championship as an amateur and in 2010 turned into a professional golfer.

Mithun is also the first Sri Lankan to have a full card on the Asian tour, and the first to have multiple winner status on the Indian tour and had the best finish on the Asian tour so far by bagging the second at the Handa Singapore Classic 2012 and Myanmar Open 2013.

He is now the No. 2 golfer on the Asian Tour Ranking for this season. “I give my heartfelt thanks to Dialog for stepping into sponsor me and the game of golf,” Mithun Perera said.

“Endorsements such as this will help upcoming players like me to compete in the world stage more often to gain the experience and skills needed to compete at a professional stage.”  Dialog Enterprise Chief Officer Jerry Huxtable said: “Mithun is Sri Lanka’s most successful amateur golfer and it is an honour to be associated with such an exceptional sportsman as he develops his professional career.”

He also said, “Professional golf is still at a nascent stage in Sri Lanka and we hope endorsements such as this will assist the players to represent Sri Lankan golf on the Asian and World platforms. We are in no doubt that Mithun will continue the successful start to his professional career.”

In the next few months Mithun will be teeing-off at the Sail Open (Asian Tour) and Avantha Masters (European tour and Asian tour) championships.
