Dialog Clifford Cup to kick off today

Defending club rugby league and Clifford Cup champions Kandy will kick off their knockout quarterfinal encounter against CH & FC today at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium. 

Kickoff is scheduled for 4.15 p.m. Kandy, under the leadership of scrumhalf Roshan Weeraratne, will be fielding their full team as they will not take any chances in the knockout competition. Kandy have been playing some champagne rugby and CH will have to be at their best if they hope to keep Kandy below 50 points. CH, who were placed last in the league, will have an uphill task with the side full of fresh faces. The game will be refereed by Aruna Rankothge. 

In another quarterfinal encounter, high-riding Sri Lanka Air Force are favoured to get through to the semifinal stage when they play CR&FC at the racecourse rugby grounds today. The referee for that match will be Priyantha Gunaratne.
