Dialog powers 2013/14 Sri Lankan rugby season

The Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) will be powered once again by Dialog Axiata, which will continue its unstinted support for the game in Sri Lanka.

At a press briefing held at the National Institute of Sport Science auditorium last week, SLRFU President Asanga Seneviratne said that last year, the national team had improved a lot and that he was very happy about the two new coaches training the national rugby team. Ben Gollings, the former England rugby sevens captain and IRB sevens’ highest scorer, has taken over as the head coach of the national rugby team. The other coach is Ravindu Plassie from South Africa.

Asanga further stated that high class rugby can be played in Galle and Nuwara Eliya this year. He also thanked the sponsors Dialog, Dialog Axiata Group CEO Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya and Dialog Axiata Senior Manager – Group Marketing Rizvi Farook. Farook and SLRFU Secretary Rizly Illyas also addressed the gathering at the press briefing. Dialog is a prominent sponsor of Sri Lankan sports and is committed to developing talent in Sri Lanka to international standards. The company is closely associated with schools’ cricket, athletics, rugby, football, rowing, the Paralympics Commonwealth Asian AF and FESPIC Games.
