Dialog powers Sri Lanka Cricket in Asia Cup quest

Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity services provider, Dialog Axiata PLC, has stepped in as the Principal Sponsor of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team as they do battle for regional supremacy versus India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan at the Asia Cup 2014 currently underway in Bangladesh. The tournament got underway yesterday, 25 February, at the Fatullah in Dhaka Bangladesh, with Sri Lanka taking on Pakistan in the opening match today. Dialog Axiata PLC is a long standing partner of Sri Lanka Cricket, first sponsoring the national team in 2009. The company is also the official sponsor of the national men’s and women’s cricket teams since June 2013, supporting all forms of the game played at home. The Asia Cup is the first international tournament where the national team is supported by Dialog, since the agreement signed in June last year. “As one of Sri Lanka’s top corporate entities, Dialog shares the pride and passion of the nation through its partnership with Sri Lanka Cricket.  We are privileged to have shared in the excellence of the team both on and off the field here at home, and it brings us immense pleasure to empower the national team in their Asia Cup campaign and the quest for continued success in the international arena,” Amali Nanayakkara, Group Chief Marketing Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC said. Dialog is a prolific sponsor of national sports and is committed to develop existing talent to international standards. These include the Sri Lanka National Rugby Team, the A-Division Club Rugby League/Clifford Cup Knockout Tournament, football, the President’s Gold Cup Volleyball tourney and Swimming. The Company is keen to foster sports at all levels of the game, manifested in its sponsorship of over 20 inter-school cricket ‘Big Matches’ island wide.
